Magnet Health Information

The following details have been simplified. They are not intended to provide scientific answers, but are a mere illustration of the wonders of magnetism on life.

Magnets find an important place in physics, chemistry and industry, but in addition magnets have proved effective as healing tools. Physics Professor of the University of Illinois, Madeleine F Barnothy defined the branch of science known as 'Biomagnetism' in 1969 as; "the science which studies the living-beings' processes and functions inducted by static magnetic fields".

Physicists and Biologists around the world support the fact that magnetism influences all forms of life throughout the world. Research into magnetism continues throughout the world today, bringing new proof of the effectiveness of magnetism each year. Based on the principles of Magnotherapy we have developed a range of MAGNACUR products that can be worn by people of all ages in all walks of life. Even pets can benefit from Magnotherapy with the specially designed MAGNO-VET devices.

Research

The Earth is a huge magnet with a North and a South Pole; its magnetic force surrounds all of its inhabitants. Life has evolved within this magnetic field and it is this, which we rely upon for our health and wellbeing.

In 1906 Dr Prince of the American Institute of Geology, continuing the work of the French physician Brunhes, discovered that magnetic force within rocks indicated that at certain times in history the Earth's polarity had been reversed. These polarity changes coincided with significant changes of species. It is thought, this directly influenced life and evolution.

The environment in which we live is constantly altering the natural transition of the Earth's magnetic field. The natural flux of the Earth's magnetic field is affected by: today's industries; travelling in metal cars, buses, trains; living and working in metal/concrete buildings, all of which shield our bodies from the potentially healing effects of the earth's magnetism. Electrical appliances, such as microwaves, televisions and computers, all of which are more powerful than the earth's natural magnetism, add to the problem.

Professors Kawai and Rikitake in Japan, discovered that the Earth's magnetic field is constantly decreasing and that in the last 100 years the Earth's magnetic force has diminished by 5%.

Dr K Crain from the National University of Australia said that the absence of the Earth's magnetic field is absolutely dangerous for any organism isolated for long periods of time.

Dr Nakagawa of Japan reinforces this by saying that the weakness in the Earth's magnetic field is creating a serious magnetic deficiency, which is harmful to all living species and is responsible for countless illnesses.

Research carried out in scientific laboratories and by authorities at NASA found that a lack of the Earth's magnetic field for a prolonged period drastically affected the body's functioning. Astronauts returning from outer space felt weak and sick, needing weeks to recover.

It was later established that their white blood corpuscles, a vital part of the body's immune system, had become depleted, this was as a direct result of being away from the Earth's magnetic field.

Space suits are now lined with magnetic material to counteract the absence of a magnetic field in outer space, upon returning to Earth astronauts are immediately able to return to normal life.

Effects

Red blood cells contain haemoglobin; a molecule with four atoms of iron at its centre. It was Linus Pauling in 1936 that discovered that each red blood corpuscle has an iron atom, and that blood is paramagnetic.

Studies conducted in several countries show that if a small magnet is applied to the skin where blood flows past it eg. immediately above a vein or artery, it creates an electromotive force, which in turn generates a weak electric current in the iron atoms. This current is carried around the body and produces an influence mainly on the autonomic nervous system, causing several physiological changes to occur.

Dr Bansal and associates clinically observed that the blood stream is agitated; more thoroughly mixing toxins and cholesterol; flushing out and keeping to a minimum the waste products that normally lodge on the walls of the arteries, thus helping prevent arteries blocking, and the associated increase in blood pressure.

Blood cells are oxygenated, and as the haemoglobin molecules absorb more oxygen the body's ability to perform increases.

Circulation is improved; blood cells separate, increasing their surface area, allowing cells to pick-up more oxygen and release more carbon dioxide. Blood vessels and capillaries dilate slightly, and the greater volume of blood cells increases the velocity of blood flow. Thus helping with allergies, bacterial and viral infections. Hormonal problems, metabolism disorders, fluid retention and the menopause can all be helped with the use of magnets, as can respiratory illnesses such as asthma, bronchitis and pneumonia. Skin diseases such as eczema and psoriasis also react favourably to magnotherapy.

Magnotherapy can help revitalise the whole body, the increased oxygenation of blood and tissues can speed-up the body's own natural ability to heal and regenerate damaged tissue. Blood pressure and pulse do not change significantly during treatment.

Numerous experiments using magnetism have been performed on humans, animals, plants, and live tissue. Such experiments have established that living creatures are not harmed by exposure to these magnetic forces.

The pineal gland, in the centre of the head, is a magnetic organ containing magnetite crystals and is responsible for the production of melatonin, the master controller of our hormones, enzymes, immune system, metabolism and cyclic patterns. Magnetic energy can be directed into the crown of the head to stimulate the pineal gland. Perhaps Cleopatra's claim was not so far fetched after all.

Experimental work has led to the following conclusions: that the magnetic field affects the middle brain, which controls the endocrine system; it has an affect on every cell in the body; and that magnetism has a positive affect on healing wounds.

Davis and Rawls carried out numerous experiments on the physiological aspects of magnetism, and the effects of the positive and negative poles upon living organisms. The results showed that each pole of a magnet has a different and opposite effect upon living organisms. Their findings have encouraged the use of magnetic fields in treating disorders, and research worldwide has continued, as a result Magnacur Products have developed a range of products to utilise these aspects of magnetism.

Results released in November 1997 from a double blind study undertaken by Dr Carlos Vallbona ,MD, Professor at the Baylor College of Medicine at the Institute of Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR) in Houston, showed that 'seventy six percent of patients who received magnetic therapy reported a significant and quick decrease in arthritic pain and discomfort in the joints and muscles'.

Dr Becker believes that negative polarity heals and controls infectious cell growth.

Dr Philpott has documented evidence on both negative and positive magnetic fields.

Negative energy (North):

  • Speeds-up circulation in small blood vessels and capillaries
  • Supports biological healing
  • Heals and arrests infection
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Normalises acid-base balances
  • Helps dissolve fat

Positive energy (South):

  • Inhibits and suppresses
  • Slows down the circulation in small blood vessels and capillaries
  • Inhibits the activity of bacteria, controlling infection and decreasing inflammation
  • Increases acid levels
  • Increases swelling

Dr Bansal supports the application of either polarity or both polarities together, but acknowledges that the polarities function differently. Many practitioners believe that both magnetic polarities are healing. Two poles of a magnet (bipolar method) are often used simultaneously, eg. if part of the body is painful as well as weak or stiff.

Historical Data

Magnotherapy is not new. There are historical references dating back thousands of years. Most ancient cultures; Greek, Egyptian, Chinese, Indian, Arabic, and Hebrew, used the beneficial effects of magnets to safe guard good health and promote wellbeing.

Cleopatra wore a small magnet on her forehead to preserve her beauty and youthfulness.

3 BC The Greek philosopher Aristotle spoke about the therapeutic properties of the magnet.

FAQ's

What type of magnets are used in Magnacur products?
We use Rare Earth Neodymium magnets - (a compound of iron, boron and neodymium), although expensive they can be made very strong and they are extremely difficult to demagnetise.

How long will the magnets last?
Due to the type of magnets used the therapeutic properties of Magnacur products should last a lifetime - however, the average person replaces a product when it has become worn.

Are people allergic to magnetism?
Some people can be sensitive to magnetism. If a reaction is noticed try wearing your Magnacur product for shorter periods at a time, enabling the body to adjust to any changes.

Are people allergic to copper?
Magnacur bracelets are made from the purest copper available - this is important, many other brands have traces of nickel, which is not recommended. However, some people can experience a sensitivity to copper!

Why does copper leave a green/ black mark on the skin?
The green mark on the wrist is a natural reaction of copper oxidisation, which is not harmful. The acid in your sweat solution dissolves the copper which is then absorbed into the blood stream through the skin, the copper is then distributed to all parts of the body and deposited where there is a copper deficiency. Research through the years has shown that people suffering with joint stiffness and aches and pains have a copper deficiency.

Who should not wear a magnetic product?
Magnetic products should not be used if pregnant or on infants - although there is no study showing adverse effects, such a study would not be approved by a medical body.

Magnetic fields can affect the heartbeat, therefore it is strongly recommended that anyone wearing a Pacemaker should not use magnets.

How long will the plating last on the Magnacur jewellery?
Magnacur products are manufactured to a very high specification - unlike cheaper products on the market - we use a heavy coat of plating for all our products. As a general rule of thumb most people replace plated items every 2 - 3 years, this can vary depending on a persons life style and the level of acidity in their perspiration.

Is it safe to wear more than one Magnacur product at a time?
As long as it feels comfortable several magnetic products can be worn at the same time.

How long does it take before any benefit is felt?
The magnetism will start working on the body immediately - helping stimulate its natural power to heal itself and enhance health and wellbeing. Some people report a benefit within hours / days, others can take longer depending on the severity of the complaint.

Do the magnets have to touch the skin?
The magnets do not have to be in direct contact with the skin to gain the therapeutic benefits.
